What Happened After RAW: Stephanie-Brie, Big Show Returns To Action

After Monday's WWE RAW from Houston, Texas went off the air, WWE officials escorted Stephanie McMahon and Brie Bella to the back, separately. Brie got a big pop from the crowd on her way out.

The dark match main event saw Big Show return to action, teaming with Dean Ambrose to defeat the team of Seth Rollins and Bray Wyatt. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper were at ringside. The finish came when Big Show chokeslammed Wyatt.

Love Means–Wanting To Know Your Partner More

One of the most recognized signs of relationship potential is someone’s interest in knowing us. They want to know about our past, our present, and our dreams for the future. They want our opinion of the movie and whether we like sushi or pasta. They look at us with rapt attention. When we resonate with mutual interest and delight, when we also want to know about them, we share an essential ingredient for falling in love- the desire to know.couple in tree
Falling Out of Knowing
A  study reported in the Journal of Consumer Psychology found that young couples are actually better than long-term partners at knowing each other’s preferences. In this study of 38 young couples aged 19 to 32 and 20 older couples aged 62 to 78; the older couples had far more difficulty correctly predicting their partners’ food preferences.
Adding to this counterintuitive finding is the fact that the older couples actually expressed more confidence in “knowing” their partners than the younger couples and they actually knew less. Older couples also predicted that their partner’s preferences would be similar to theirs – they were wrong!!
What Does This Suggest?
The authors of the study prompt us to wonder – How do we fall out of “knowing” our partners? Is there a tendency over time to pay less attention to our partners?  Do we actually project more and understand less?
The Reality of Change
The definition of the verb “to know” is to understand as fact or truth, to be acquainted with, and to understand from experience.
We may know from experience, for example, that in terms ofpersonality traits, our partner is more open to experiences than we are, more extroverted, less nervous, perhaps more affectionate. While such traits are enduring, they can be shaped over time by many other factors that change what we know about our partner or ourselves.
Without the stress of work, a retired partner may be more affectionate and far less argumentative.
After a medical scare a partner may want to take risks and see the world in a way we never would predict.
Perhaps the underlying message of the study above is the realization that partners and the relationships they share are never static. Whether by choice, age, or crisis, we change and so do our partners. The question is whether we are interested enough to notice.
The Paradox of Knowing
Isn’t trust and stability in a relationship built on predictability? Yes and No. In his book,Can Love Last, Stephen Mitchell implies that to keep romance alive, we need to feel the safety of the known while we dare to embrace the unknown in self and partner.
 The Challenges to Knowing
When working with couples trying to understand one another, it goes without saying that the counterpart to “knowing” your partner is the “wish to be known.” A close look at the following couple dynamics will highlight some of the challenges to really knowing and being known over time.
Presumptions of Knowing
While most partners are delighted by the other’s efforts to remember the exact name and size of their designer coffee or the perfect returnable holiday gift, presumptions of knowing often impede the process of knowing a partner.
Most partners don’t want the other to finish their sentence or question a change.
“ That’s not what I was going to say.”
“Since when do you order fish?”
In many cases the presumption of knowing precludes the possibility of growing.
“I turned down the hiking invitation with the Clarks – I told them you don’t like to sweat.”
” What if I wanted to try sweating and hiking?”
Failure to Recognize Change
One of the most distressing things for partners is the failure to be recognized for changes that they have already made. It not only impedes “knowing”– it is often cause for anger and despair.
“I can’t believe you are saying that I don’t fly…Who was with you on the last vacation to California?”
” Never cared about your family?…Who took care of your mother when she fell?”
One wonders if the failure to know a partner in a new way reflects the anxiety associated with any changes (good or bad) in the person you once knew.
Needing to Know Too Much
Texts or emails many times a day may be valuable to partners who both want to know the daily life of the other in detail.
For others, this may feel like a demand to know that actually turns off the wish to be known.
What you know about your partner should unfold in a way that is natural and works for both.
 Mini Exercise
When was the last time you sat across from your partner and really wanted to know his/her opinion?
When was the last time you asked your partner what he/she would do if they were given a vacation to anywhere?
When was the last time you asked your partner to explain something you wanted to learn? ( From recipes to sports)
When was the last time you let your partner know about something you have wanted to do your entire life?
When was the last time you noticed an unexpected behavior in your partner that you really liked?
When was the last time you asked your partner what he/she thinks would happen if you were both single and just met? What would you talk about…and more?
The Importance of the Desire to Know
Elie Wiesel tells us that, “The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.”
When there is no desire to know the partner, the spark, the joy and the possibilities of a truly close relationship disappear.
Partners stay insiders to each other when they confide, take an interest and what to know more.
It simply is not enough to once have known or to presume to know.
Part of the vibrancy of a relationship is to cherish what was and look forward to what else can be.

Dissatisfied With Your Appearance? Re-set The Criteria of Beauty

How satisfied are you with your appearance?

Across the ages, norms of beauty have been set by cultures and passed down in the context of family, close community and friends. With time and technology, however, the setting of norms has changed and so has their impact.looking in the mirror gown

Our versions of beauty are now very much shaped by media.
Inundated and challenged with images of “ defined” beauty and masculine body type on the internet, TV, videos, films, magazines, and billboards, it has become increasingly difficult to hold on to what is realistic, much less to accept our personal best as desirable.
It is estimated that young women see more images of outstandingly beautiful women in one day than their grandmothers saw throughout their entire adolescence.
Every month magazines invite women to lose 10 pounds, flatten abs and learn secrets to a better body. Men in turn are invited to pump harder, climb higher and invest better.
Subject to seeing the same computer altered images over and over and the messages implied, both men and women have a hard time developing realistic norms against which to measure a sense of beauty or self-esteem.
A closer look at the actual impact of such media norms invites us to reconsider ways to re-set the criteria for our own definition of beauty.
The Impact

Teens and Young Adults

While the adolescents in any generation face confusion, self-doubts and shaky body images, social media has increased the preoccupation with perfect bodies and beauty. Hostage to hormones, uneven body development, bulges, height and complexion outbreaks, it is a difficult time for many.
Surveys show that even very young girls are going on diets because they think they are fat and unattractive. One American survey finds that 81% of ten-year-old girls had already dieted at least once.
Studies at Stanford University and the University of Massachusetts found that 70% of college women say they felt worse about their own looks after reading women’s magazines.
A 2006 study published in the Journal of Psychology of Men and Masculinity found that not only did watching prime-time television and music videos appear to make men more uncomfortable with themselves; in some cases the discomfort led to sexual problems and risky behaviors.
Easily overlooked, young men often get caught in The Adonis Complex. In a vicious cycle, the more a young man focuses on his body–something he may not be able to change given age, development and body type–the worse he can feel about how he looks.
Some young men step out of the social arena completely or postpone feared social rejection by turning to online videos and porn as their default position.
Adults

The impact of the media doesn’t abate for adults. On a regular basis, men and women see what they could, should or once looked like. Whether married or single and regardless of life’s work, people fear being judged on the basis of media ideals which obscure diversity.

Women

Eighty percent of women are unhappy with their appearance. Many are preoccupied with weight.
The current media ideal of being super-thin, achievable by less than 5% of the female population, is often depicted by very young female models in the most popular magazines.
The comparison of self by married and unmarried women to these unrealistic standards brings with it self-criticism, anxiety, distorted perceptions of attractiveness, and often assumed sexual rejection.
Men

Whereas some research suggests that men as compared with women tend to over-estimate their attractiveness or literally not seeing their flaws (great for them but sometimes not so great for their partners), men in midlife often become preoccupied with hair loss, body build and weight.
For many men the impact of media is not so much on the comparison with the perfect body but with the perfect “ sexual performance” that they associate with virility, desirability and attraction.
For them the media depicted sexual prowess of men of any age, at any time, in any place, invites fear of failure, performance anxiety and unrealistic expectations.
The interruption of shows with advertisements for Viagra and similar drugs do not add to their comfort level.
Strategies

Whether a teen, a young adult or a mid-life adult, it is crucial to take back ownership of your own body image, use your own or a flexible version of cultural norms and reclaim a way to feel personal acceptance and satisfaction.

Change Perspective

A crucial step is putting physical appearance into perspective as one aspect of your multi-dimensional self. There is little doubt that people will more readily respond to you and you will feel at your best if you are well groomed with good hygiene. That said, when you are in the zone of playing an instrument you love, preparing a special dinner that you never tried, winning the essay contest or making your friends laugh— you are more attractive than any media image. Who we are and how we look is a function of all of our talents and traits.

Clarify Distortions

An important way to change the anxiety, self-criticism and doubt we feel about our appearance is to change what we think, more specifically to clarify distortions.

Consider these findings:

A study of 118 college men and 87 college women by Cohn and Adler found that 69% of the women chose the three thinnest silhouettes as most attractive to men. In reality only 25% of the men selected the thinnest figures as most attractive to them.

Similarly men also misjudged the body size most attractive to the women. Men overestimated the extent to which women view large and muscular male figures as attractive. The men thought women would prefer a build that was actually 15-20 lbs. more muscular than the ones the females actually preferred.

In a study reported by Nick Epley in his book Mindwise, research volunteers where asked to predict how attractive they would be rated by a member of the opposite sex who looked at a photograph of them.

Their accuracy was abysmal. Whereas people tend to evaluate themselves through a more microscopic lens, noting every flaw and imperfection, others see them with a much broader lens making note of general features not imperfect details.

People are much more likely to remember the bright eyes than the unexpected blemish.

Identify What You Can Control

A crucial step in putting physical attractiveness into perspective is recognizing what we can and cannot change and taking charge of what we can.

While being your “ personal best” may seem like a cliché, the decision to stop checking the scale or comparing yourself with everyone on the beach, in the gym or in the fitting room frees you to walk, workout or take care of your body for your own goals.
Have you noticed that sometimes the character or person is the media that you find most attractive is not the most conventionally beautiful but the one who is competent and confident?
Given the mind-body connection, striving for your personal best in non-physical areas be they intellectual pursuits, love of animals or caregiving is likely to fill you with a competence that enhances confidence and personal beauty.
Appreciating your own results adds the glow of self-confidence that is very attractive.

Re-think and Balance Media Messages

Remembering that everyone on film is camera ready, that the perfect teen in the movie is actually 25 years old and that shows that celebrate diversity, gender differences , range of sizes and different life choices offer a crucial and balancing message is important. Be entertained and informed–not stifled by what you see.

Recognize Serious Problems

Commonly beginning in the teen years, and often underscored by genetic predisposition, some teens and adults become so obsessed with a perceived flaw that it impairs life functioning. For them there is no procedure, workout, or medical intervention that brings relief from anxiety, depression and even suicidal thinking. This often reflects Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD), a type of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. BDD is very treatable with a combination of medication and therapy. If you or someone you love is suffering in this way, professional help is an answer.

Look in the Mirror of Happiness

There is a reason that everyone smiles for photos and people in advertisements are always smiling. Happiness, laughter and smiling are contagious and engaging.
Something that you can control and that you owe yourself is to find those things that bring you happiness and those moments that bring you laughter. That is a major way to re-set your appearance criteria.

Emotional and Physical Health Linked in Young Adult Women

New research suggests common health problems such as depression, obesity and alcohol abuse appear to be interrelated conditions among young women.

However, the conditions do not appear to overlap among young men.

In the study, University of Washington researchers collected data from young adults when they were 24, 27 and 30 years of age.

They discovered nearly half the sample of 776 young adults tracked during the study met the criteria for one of these conditions at each of these time points.

“The proportion of people with all three of these conditions at any one point is small,” said Carolyn McCarty, the lead author of a new study and a UW research associate professor of pediatrics and psychology.

“For women there is a great deal of overlap between these common emotional and health problems that span early adulthood. Men may develop one of these conditions but they don’t tend to lead to another one later on.”

“These conditions are major public health problems. They take a toll on families and community and are not subject to quick fixes. It requires a lot of time, money and energy to treat them.”

The study found that:

Women with an alcohol disorder at age 24 were more than three times as likely to be obese when they were 27.
Women who are obese at 27 were more than twice as likely to be depressed when they were 30.
Women who are depressed at 27 were at increased risk for alcohol disorders at 30.
Obesity offers men some protection against later developing depression.
McCarty said the research did not uncover any step-by-step progression from one of these disorders to another. However, she said clinicians treating women with one of these conditions should be aware that patients might develop another disorder.

McCarty said there are two possibilities as to why women with alcohol disorder at 24 were more likely to be obese at 27.

“The caloric intake associated with drinking alcohol may increase metabolic processes leading to weight gain. Or there may be an underlying connection to levels of dopamine, a neurotransmitter, in the reward pathway in the brain because the same pathways reward both food and alcohol intake.

“It also may be that some people substitute food for alcohol, leading to obesity.”

She said body image may play a key role in why women who are obese at 27 are more likely to report depression three years later.

“Body image is particularly important for women. There seems to be a transfer that when women feel bad they eat more. That can have devastating effects emotionally and physically.

“But for men experiencing obesity, the reverse is true, and obesity seems to be protective against depression. It’s the so-called ‘jolly fat man’ theory, which suggests that overweight people are actually happier.”

The link between obesity at 27 and subsequent depression at 30 among women may develop as a result of individuals self-medicating themselves.

“People who feel more emotionally down may use alcohol for a quick lift or a short-term boost. The two conditions may be connected by an underlying stress mechanism. Stress is linked to depression, so women under stress potentially eat and drink more,” she said.

The study also showed that income has a significant effect on obesity at age 24 and those with higher incomes had a lower risk for weight problem.

McCarty said that finding is not surprising since many of the least nutritional items are inexpensive, and low income areas do not have the same sources of fresh fruits and vegetables that more affluent ones have.

“It costs more to eat well,” she said.

McCarty believes that intervention programs are needed and can play a key role in reducing the growing public health burden caused by these conditions.

“Early prevention is important because the sooner we start the more impact we can have. Interventions should include stress management so we can provide young people with tools to cope with situations and emotions.

“We also need to explore underlying factors that predispose people to these conditions, such as a family background that is not supportive or is toxic.”

Data from the study was drawn from the ongoing Seattle Social Development Project, which has been tracking the life course of an urban group of now young adults since 1985.

The group was almost evenly split between men and women and was 47 percent white, 26 percent African-American, 22 percent Asian American and 5 percent Native American.

Stress Triggers Depression in Women, Alcohol Craving in Men

An interesting new study finds that women and men tend to have different types of stress-related psychological disorders.

Women have greater rates of depression and some types of anxiety disorders than men, while men have greater rates of alcohol-use disorders than women.

In the study of emotional and alcohol-craving responses to stress, scientists discovered that when men become upset, they are more likely than women to want alcohol.

Results will be published in the July issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research and are currently available at OnlineEarly.

“We know that women and men respond to stress differently,” said Tara M. Chaplin, associate research scientist at Yale University School of Medicine and first author of the study.

“For example, following a stressful experience, women are more likely than men to say that they feel sad or anxious, which may lead to risk for depression and anxiety disorders. Some studies have found that men are more likely to drink alcohol following stress than women. If this becomes a pattern, it could lead to alcohol-use disorders.”

As part of a larger study, the researchers exposed 54 healthy adult social drinkers (27 women, 27 men) to three types of imagery scripts – stressful, alcohol-related, and neutral/relaxing – in separate sessions, on separate days and in random order. Chaplin and her colleagues then assessed participants’ subjective emotions, behavioral/bodily responses, cardiovascular arousal as indicated by heart rate and blood pressure, and self-reported alcohol craving.

“After listening to the stressful story, women reported more sadness and anxiety than men,” said Chaplin, “as well as greater behavioral arousal. But, for the men … emotional arousal was linked to increases in alcohol craving. In other words, when men are upset, they are more likely to want alcohol.”

These findings – in addition to the fact that the men drank more than the women on average – meant that the men had more experience with alcohol, perhaps leading them to turn to alcohol as a way of coping with distress, added Chaplin.

“Men’s tendency to crave alcohol when upset may be a learned behavior or may be related to known gender differences in reward pathways in the brain,” she said. “And this tendency may contribute to risk for alcohol-use disorders.”

There is a greater societal acceptance of “emotionality,” particularly sadness and anxiety, in women than in men, noted Chaplin.

“Women are more likely than men to focus on negative emotional aspects of stressful circumstances, for example, they tend to ‘ruminate’ or think over and over again about their negative emotional state,” she said.

“Men, in contrast, are more likely to distract themselves from negative emotions, to try not to think about these emotions. Our finding that men had greater blood pressure response to stress, but did not report greater sadness and anxiety, may reflect that they are more likely to try to distract themselves from their physiological arousal, possibly through the use of alcohol.”

Supportive Women Turn Men On

New research suggests that the emotional connections and desires established on a first date, determine the fate of a potential relationship.

Responsiveness, or the support for another’s needs and goals, may be one of those initial “sparks” necessary to fuel sexual desire and land a second date.

However, it may not be a desirable trait for both men and women on a first date.

A study published in Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin investigates if responsiveness increases sexual desire in the other person? Also, does the perception vary by gender?

Researchers from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, the University of Rochester, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, collaborated on three studies to observe people’s perceptions of responsiveness.

People often say that they seek a partner that is “responsive to their needs,” and that such a partner would arouse their sexual interest.

“Sexual desire thrives on rising intimacy and being responsive is one of the best ways to instill this elusive sensation over time,” lead researcher Gurit Birnbaum explains.

“Our findings show that this does not necessarily hold true in an initial encounter, because a responsive potential partner may convey opposite meanings to different people.”

In the first study, the researchers examined whether responsiveness is perceived as feminine or masculine, and whether men or women perceived a responsive person of the opposite sex as sexually desirable.

Men who perceived female partners as more responsive also perceived them as more feminine, and more attractive.

However, the association between responsiveness and male partner’s masculinity was not significant for women.

Women’s perceptions of partner responsiveness were marginally and negatively associated with perceptions of partner attractiveness.

Participants in the second study were asked to interact with a responsive or non-responsive individual of the opposite sex, and view that individual’s photo (the same photo was given to each participant).

They were then asked to interact online with this individual, and discuss details on a current problem in their life.

The responsiveness of the virtual individual was manipulated, for example, “You must have gone through a very difficult time” as a responsive reply, versus “Doesn’t sound so bad to me” as a non-responsive reply.

Men who interacted with a responsive female individual perceived her as more feminine and as more sexually attractive than did men in the unresponsive condition.

Women are more cautious than men when interpreting a stranger’s expressions of responsiveness, and their perceptions of the stranger, which were seemingly unaffected by perceived responsiveness, may reflect conflicting trends among different women.

“Some women, for example, may interpret responsiveness negatively and feel uncomfortable about a new acquaintance who seems to want to be close.

Such feelings may impair sexual attraction to this responsive stranger. Other women may perceive a responsive stranger as warm and caring and therefore as a desirable long-term partner,” Dr. Birnbaum elaborates.

The third and final study tested the possibility that responsiveness may activate motivational mechanisms for men that fuel pursuit of either short-term or long-term sexual relationship opportunities.

A female partner’s actual responsiveness led men to perceive her as more feminine, and consequently to feel more sexually aroused.

Heightened sexual arousal, in turn, was linked to both increased perception of partner attractiveness and greater desire for a long-term relationship with that partner.

The findings of the study imply that whether a responsive partner will be seen as sexually desirable or not depends on the context and meaning assign to responsiveness.

In early dating, the meaning of responsiveness is likely shaped by gender-specific expectations.

Women did not perceive a responsive man as less masculine, but even so, women did not find a responsive man as more attractive.

The study helps to explain why men find responsive women sexually attractive, but does not reveal the mechanism that underlies women’s desire for new acquaintanceships.

“We still do not know why women are less sexually attracted to responsive strangers; it may not necessarily have to do with ‘being nice.’

“Women may perceive a responsive stranger as less desirable for different reasons,” Prof. Birnbaum cautions.

“Women may perceive this person as inappropriately nice and manipulative (i.e., trying to obtain sexual favors) or eager to please, perhaps even as desperate, and therefore less sexually appealing.

Alternatively, women may perceive a responsive man as vulnerable and less dominant. Regardless of the reasons, perhaps men should slow down if their goal is to instill sexual desire.”

Crazed and Confused: The State of Instability in WWE

The Legacy of Lunacy

Crazy characters are nothing new in WWE. We can look at anyone ranging from Mankind to George "The Animal" Steele and have no short list of wrestlers whose mental standings were appropriately questioned. Each era has its staples that were responsible for the most cerebral, psychotic, and bone-chilling promos, and that's something that WWE's been missing for quite some time.

If you haven't heard Jake "The Snake" Roberts from his heyday, you're really missing out on captivating work.

Our last generation of unstable personas mostly ended when characters like Kane and Orton cooled off. However, the upside is that such themes seem to have been returning to the forefront in recent years.

Affairs such as Eugene, the Benoit scandal, and the entrance into the PG/shareholder era might have had something to do with this lack of instability, and that's unfortunate; instability is what sports entertainment is all about, and it's part of the reason that each WWE event is "unpredictable."

The Unstables in Recent Memory
2012 was arguably the year of AJ. Her storylines centered around being the General Manager brought about her even more successful year of 2013, and all of her accomplishments in that short time came because of her personality and presence. She was ruthless, evil, and unhinged, and now she's the longest reigning Divas Champion.

2013 saw the main-roster debut of Bray Wyatt, who soon had crowds everywhere singing a song about God while he was proclaiming to be one himself. He declared that he created war and eats worlds. His success is unquestionable, even if his win-loss record is. He had that rocky start with Kane, but eight months later, he went to WrestleMania against the biggest star of this decade. And he did it again for two more months.

2014 is already the year that Dean Ambrose made himself. With hints and hopes that he might take the briefcase from Seth Rollins, even if those don't come to fruition, he's already made a big enough impact to have earned a better 2015.

So with all the success these performers have and have yet to earn, will their peers dilute our interest in them? Is there such a thing as too much crazy?

So far this year, we've already experienced five other instances of crazy:

1/20: The first invocation of "U-SO Crazy" after Jimmy and Jey's bout with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan.
5/13: Alicia Fox has a mental breakdown following her loss to Paige
6/16: Cody Rhodes joins Goldust to become the truly bizarre one.
7/4: Chris Jericho wants to get "crazy" and "nuts".
7/21: Paige's slightly loony heel turn on the post-Battleground episode of Raw.
To be fair, Jericho and the Usos were just being themselves. Not counting them, that still leaves us with seven crazy characters. Does this mean that there's an oversaturation of insanity? Will the unstables eventually become passé and blasé? I think not, since they each have their own niche, though Paige's stylings have yet to be fully explored. Still, WWE should put a lid on the crazy from here on out, unless it's for something great. The reason the demand was high for Lee, Wyatt, and Ambrose is because the supply for their brand of charismatic instability was low. Their territory won't be hurt much by the others, but then the real question becomes if the others can rise while those three are on top. I think the Rhodes Dust are carving out their own niche with the "Cosmic Key" plot, but that's because they have a fresh and specific goal that ties into their mental state.

Will WWE's Influx of Unstable Characters Offend?

Crazy characters are still relatively new territory in this "Reality era." Are uses of terms like "crazy" and "nuts" offensive in this time of politically correct sports entertainment? Mental health diseases are a real issue in our country, and people with them and those around them know just how hard it is to deal with the associated stigma. Because of that, I have to wonder if anyone gets offended when they see a guy like Ambrose being a stereotype of a lunatic (though he has been practicing it for years). No matter how captivating he is while doing it, it furthers that stereotype by portraying it. Maybe it even causes fellow wrestlers to keep their own problems under wraps.

As mentioned before, surely the Benoit tragedy had an impact on the creation of such characters, but has the elapsed time made it okay to have our unstable characters again?

Furthermore, are they even doing a good job when making crazy characters? TNA has done a much better job with Samuel Shaw, mostly because his insanity has been fleshed out and explained. He's had actual character development.

I'd love to hear other Cagesiders' thoughts on the mental health matter.

Rey Mysterio has disappeared from WWE scene

The former world champion hasn't been seen on WWE TV since his match against Bad News Barrett the night after Wrestlemania back in April, it seems Mysterio suffered a wrist injury in that match and decided to take time off to heal properly.

The San Diego based wrestler has always been injury prone, earlier in his career his knees were the main cause of this, after subsequent knee surgery it looked like Rey was back to his old self but following his World Title win at Wrestlemania 22, The Master of the 619 was forced to undergo knee surgery again.

His knees continued to play havoc with his wrestling career and after the team of Sin Cara and Rey Mysterio failed to pick up the Tag Team Titles in late 2012, the Mexican took another leave of absence due to another knee injury.

This time he was out for eight months and he would return for the last time in November last year saving CM Punk and Daniel Bryan to build up his involvement in the match at Survivor Series.

He then tried and failed to lift the tag titles at TLC this time partnered by The Big Show before one of the strangest moments of his career, when he entered this year's Royal Rumble at number 30 and was heavily booed by the crowd.

Finally he took part in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania but failed to win as Cesaro lifted the oversized trophy.

Since then Rey has been out with his wrist injury and news coming out of WWE suggested that Rey was set to become an ambassador for WWE and that was the reason his contract had been renewed, despite the fact that he wasn't wrestling.

There was a clause that WWE could use to automatically extend a superstars contract if they have missed a certain amount of time due to injuries and this then began speculation about CM Punk's future.

Although it now seems that Rey doesn't want to remain as a WWE superstar, this week it was reported that he has stopped cashing his cheques with WWE and could be set to take action to find a way out of his current deal.

At almost 40 years old, who can blame Rey for wanting to wind his career down and possibly spend more time with his wife and two kids? He has dazzled audiences for the best part of two decades, maybe it's officially time he passed the torch to his protege Sin Cara.

CM Punk news: Wrestler returning to WWE? says 'Never ever ever'

CM Punk was recently seen looking as dashing as ever, but this time, it's not inside the ring. Last July 21, Punk was asked to co-host the first Gibson Brands' AP Awards. It was the perfect time to ask the former wrestler about his plans of returning to the WWE.

Recently, when Punk's contract with the WWE expired last week, the WWE moved Punk's profile from Superstars to the Alumni section. This pretty much meant that it was the end of Punk's journey in the WWE. However, Punk's loyal fans remain hopeful that they will still see their favorite wrestler in action.

Rightfully so, the fans have a good reason to stay hopeful. When a reporter at the AP Music Awards interviewed Punk and asked if he will be returning to WWE, his answer gives a subtle hint.

"Do you think there's ever a chance we'll see you back in a squared circle?" asked the reporter. "No... no," Punk replied. "Never?" the reporter asked again. "No, never ever! Never ever ever! They're going to go crazy about that on Twitter, they're gonna like hold me to it and...yeah whatever," Punk answered.

In the text, it sounds like Punk is done for good. However, every wrestling fan must see how Punk answered the question on video. We'll leave it up to you to judge if Punk is actually teasing fans about his return to the WWE.

Meanwhile, the WWE is still unhappy with CM Punk and is planning to take legal action for his breach of contract. Punk walked out back in January despite his contract ending in July. According to Cage Side Seats, Vince McMahon is just holding out on the lawsuit because he is still hoping that the WWE star would still return and fulfill his contract until it expires. Nonetheless, the threat of suing the former WWE champion might still happen, according to reports.

Exclusive: Major Backstage Heat on Randy Orton, WWE Upset with His Live Event Matches Against Roman Reigns, More

As we reported earlier today, several negative fan reviews surfaced online of the Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton WWE live event matches which took place over the weekend.

WZ has learned from WWE sources there is enormous heat internally on Randy Orton for what many members of the locker room perceive to be a “crowd killing” style against Roman Reigns during the WWE house shows this weekend.

Several of the wrestlers in WWE, seeing payoffs down and just getting paid for WrestleMania, are worried Orton may be slowing down Roman’s progress to the top, where a new babyface star is needed since John Cena can’t be expected to carry the entire load, and Daniel Bryan’s future is uncertain with his nerve damage and possible need for a second surgery. “If Roman’s the guy, then Roman’s the guy,” one WWE Superstar said.

“Whoever is the guy, we need to get this guy over bigger than ever, not hold him down in rest holds and hope no one gets hurt. We’re in the wrestling business, Bumps and bruises happen.”

WWE 2K15: 15 Legends Who Need To Join Sting On The Roster

With the announcement that Sting would be joining the roster of the upcoming WWE 2K15 as a pre-order bonus character, fans were agog.
Last year’s WWE2K14 was a showcase for how it was possible to combine the rich history of World Wrestling Entertainment with the incredible graphics and state-of-the-art gameplay of a cutting edge video game. The two story modes in particular, 30 Years Of Wrestlemania and The Streak, brought Wrestlemania to life for gamers the world over, allowing us to work our way through three decades of WWF and WWE stories on the grandest stage of them all.
But Sting… he was one of the only professional wrestling legends never to wrestle for either WWF or WWE. Although the company had teased signing The Icon for some time (even posting a speculative promotional video for a potential Sting/Undertaker match on wwe.com back in April), July saw the months of rumours finally come to a head: Sting was now signed to WWE, at least nominally, telling the Daily Mirror that he was now “part of the WWE family.”
With Sting never having wrestled for WWE before (unless you count his final appearance in the ring for WCW Nitro’s final show, which technically came after the WWF had purchased the ailing promotion), we’re suddenly faced with a whole range of fascinating possibilities, with the potential for delving into the legacy of WCW… possibly the entire history of professional wrestling itself.
To dive right into the speculation, here’s a carefully selected countdown of 15 professional wrestling legends that should join The Icon on the roster of WWE 2K15.
(You’ll notice there’s no Mick Foley, Jesse Ventura or ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham – that’s because rumour has it that each of these legendary retired performers has beef with WWE, Foley specifically over his declining financial return from video games over the past couple of years).

Four Rumored Matches For Summerslam, 2 Possible Gimmick Bouts, WWE Confirms Prince Devitt Signing

Four Rumored Summerslam Matches

F4WOnline is reporting on four rumored Summerslam matches, first saying that Stephanie McMahon versus Brie Bella might actually take place at Night Of Champions, not Summerslam like expected.

They also say both Paige versus AJ Lee, and Seth Rollins versus Dean Ambrose could see a gimmick match implemented into the respective feuds.

Finally, The Usos are rumored to be defending their WWE Tag Team Titles against The Wyatt Family and two other teams in a Fatal 4 Way match.

WWE Confirms Devitt Signing

WWE.com just published a new article confirming international star Prince (Fergal) Devitt has been signed to a contract with the company.

Devitt will be sent to NXT to begin training, an idea which Devitt himself is prepared for, saying:

“I don’t consider myself anywhere close to the finished product,
so I’m looking forward to this challenge and learning a new style”

Kane On See No Evil 2: Making A Sequel, What To Expect, How His ‘Demon’ Character Prepared Him For The Role

WWE Superstar Kane, who is starring in the upcoming film See No Evil 2, recently sat down with DreadCentral.com to talk about his role as Jacob Goodnight.
Kane talked about waiting so long for a sequel, what working with the crew was like, how his WWE character helped him prepare, and more. You can read some excerpts from the interview below:
Kane On See No Evil 2, And Making A Sequel:
“I was sort of shocked to get the call really because the first movie had been a commercial success with WWE Studios’ debut film, and I thought, ‘Okay, we’re going to do a sequel pretty quickly,’ and it didn’t happen for, like, several years,” Glenn Jacobs, better known as Kane, tells us. “So, my phone rang one day and I was like, ‘Really? Okay. Isn’t it six years late?’ I was really surprised to get the call after having all that time pass. I didn’t think we’d do another one.”
Kane On His Relationship With The Directors (The Soska Sisters):
“They were awesome. They bring so much excitement and so much enthusiasm to the set. We had fifteen shooting days, which is pressure packed. No matter how hard you try, there’s going to be points you feel you’ve fallen behind schedule. Everybody was freaking out except the twins. I was just so impressed by them. Their knowledge and their skill is amazing; they helped me a lot as far as my role. I can’t speak highly enough of their talent.”
Kane On How WWE Prepared Him For This Role:
“I think people are going to be very surprised in this movie as far as what Jacob does with some of the scenes. You actually have your psychopathic killer acting, which is something you don’t see that often. I wore a mask for years and the disadvantage of that is, as human beings, we portray most emotions with our face and I had to do it with body language. Really, the essence of the WWE is we’re trying to elicit an emotional reaction from the crowd just like you are in a movie. It’s the same deal. I understood how you get those emotions out of people. If you can’t have your number one asset, and you can do it with your number two asset, once you get your number one asset, you’re going to be pretty good at it.”

Dean Ambrose Interview On Entrance Music, KENTA Signing With WWE, Working With Triple H

Dean Ambrose recently did an interview with Alternative Nation, and he spoke on a number of topics, including picking his entrance music on the indies, working with Triple H, WWE’s signing of KENTA, and more.

You can read a few excerpts from the interview below:

Ambrose On Entrance Music Choices:

A couple of them, I might have thought out beforehand, and came in with the idea. But a lot of the time I would show up and put no forethought into the music I’m coming out to. I would be like, ‘What have you got?’ They would be like, ‘We’ve have 4 CD’s, pick between these. And [it would be like] uh, use that.’ Sometimes there was no forethought into it at all, and then sometimes it stuck and they always kept bringing me out to that song. Some of them I picked, like Led Zeppelin’s “Immigrant Song” because it’s a classic, it’s got such a good vibe that I felt it fit me really good. L7 same thing, just a song [“Sh*tlist”] that pumps me up, and puts me in the right frame of mind. You want a song that puts you in the right frame of mind, so when you hear it, it is part of the performance. If the song doesn’t match your attitude when you’re walking out, then you’re off to a bad start already.

Ambrose On Working With Triple H:

[We ended up being able to] work with Triple H, and [I would] go up to him with what [I thought] was a brilliant idea, because I tend to think I’m pretty smart. I’ll go up and say I have a brilliant idea, and he’ll shoot 10,000 logic holes in it, and I’ll go, ‘Oh yeah I am stupid, that’s way smarter the way he put it.’ Seeing how Triple H thinks is very educational. Kind of the same thing with Piper, seeing those guys go through their process and think about things, and bring logic to what is often an illogical form of entertainment, is pretty cool.

Ambrose On KENTA coming to WWE:

When it comes to KENTA, I saw him in Japan and talked to him a little bit. Him coming in just shows you the difference in the Performance Center. When I came in it was a totally different story than what it is today. I slipped in the back door of developmental, the only guy I was even vaguely familiar with was Seth [Rollins], and I never wrestled him before. I may have crossed paths and maybe said hello to him once or twice over the years, but we were in different circles. We were always kind of on parallel paths on the indies, so I never really crossed paths with him much. But he was the only guy I had even remotely heard of, it was just a bunch of other guys. For instance, to give you perspective, the top guy in developmental when I got there was Lucky Cannon. If you don’t know [him], just Google it. That will show you the difference in the talent that is in developmental now.

Exclusive: TNA Official & Former WWE Writer Approaches Ring of Honor Following Spike TV Cancellation News

Yesterday afternoon Wrestlezone first broke the news that Spike TV will not be renewing their contract with TNA, and that Impact Wrestling will face cancellation in the coming months if they are not able to find a new television deal. Several hours later our report was confirmed in a TMZ article, and again this morning by F4WOnline.com
A source has now informed us that Dave Lagana, former WWE creative writer and current Director of Creative Writing for TNA, has approached Ring of Honor as a possible next step. He is interested in producing future live PPV events, as well as managing all of ROH’s online and social media presence.
Lagana has been with TNA since October of 2011, and actually worked as a backstage producer for Ring of Honor for several years, following his six-year run as a writer and producer for WWE. He became well known on the internet as the voice of the “I Want Wrestling” podcast in 2011. We’ve been told there is at least some preliminary interest by ROH in bringing him back to the company.

Fergal Devitt Comments on WWE Signing; Which NXT Stars is He Familiar With?

Fergal Devitt is a former 3-time IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, a 2-time winner of the New Japan Best of the Super Juniors tournament – going undefeated last year – and a six time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion.
The official WWE announcement mentions that he is familiar with current NXT Champion Adrian Neville, that the two have wrestled together in Japan, and that Devitt actually trained newcomer Diva Becky Lynch, who has shown up on quite a few episodes of WWE NXT.
KILLAM: What’s interesting to me is that with the Sin Cara signing several years back, WWE made sure to reference his original name and immediate brand him with a new one. Here, and with Kenta a few weeks ago, WWE seems to be going out of its way to recognize these international talents by their already developed names. Of course, that could change when either actually debuts on NXT, but I’m hoping its good news for Kevin Steen as well – although naming him “Hunk Godsack” or something equally ridiculous could make for some entertaining TV.

Dixie Carter Claims TNA Impact Negotiations w/ Spike TV are “Ongoing”

TNA President Dixie Carter came forward on Twitter today to state that negotiations with Spike TV are still “ongoing”, implying that just because a deal hasn’t been struck, does not mean there won’t be one made in the coming weeks.

This comes after our report yesterday that Spike TV did not want to renew their deal with the wrestling organization, leaving Impact Wrestling potentially homeless if a deal could not be reached with a new network soon. While this is technically true, and TNA would obviously love to remain with their network, it’s still being said – and confirmed by dozens of sources at this point – that Spike has very little interest in pursuing their relationship further.

Exclusive: Major WWE Employee Cuts Expected By the End of The Week, How Many Names Are Expected to Be Let Go?

WZ has learned from WWE sources as many as 30 employees are expected to be released at the end of this week as the next wave of budget cuts hit World Wrestling Entertainment. The executive wing is expected to be the focus of these WWE employee cuts, as production cuts are taking place with air and ground travel, busses being taken off the road and the trimming of post production costs.
There is the thought WWE has needed to “trim the fat” (as one insider told us) for quite some time, and this is a lot less painful to upper management than it may seem. Either way, while this is still a backstage rumor, we can confirm several moves have been made that appear to clear the way for an overhaul at the main Tower this week. More information to come.

Hulk Hogan Tells WZ He Didn’t Know Stone Cold Or The Rock Would Be With Him At WrestleMania 30

Hulk Hogan took time to talk to reporters about WrestleMania 30 on Monday afternoon. NBC will be airing WrestleMania 30 for the sixth straight year on Sunday, August 3rd.
I asked Hogan about the opening segment where he was joined in ring by The Rock and Stone Cold. He spoke about how chaotic it was backstage, when he found out they would be involved, why he thinks he kept saying “Silverdome” and he talks about what’s old is becoming new again in the wrestling business.

Daniel Bryan Catches, Detains Burglar

Daniel Bryan showed his mean side outside the WWE ring when he subdued a burglar who broke into his Arizona home.

Reuters via the New York Post reported on Friday that the 33-year old Bryan was returning home on Thursday night when he ran after two suspects who were headed towards the rear door. The former WWE champion was able to catch one of the burglars, 22-year old Cesar Sosa.

The Phoenix Police Department revealed that there was a struggle inside Bryan's house but the wrestler was able to detain the suspect. Sosa was taken into custody by police officers who came to Bryan's rescue. Unfortunately the second suspect was able to get away.

Bryan said he was angry to learn that someone had burglarized his home. He and his wife, Brie Bella, had just moved into the Phoenix mansion just 10 days ago. He also said he was worried for his French bulldog.

According to Bryan's account, he chased the burglar for about 400 feet, grabbed him and shouted some invectives. He also used a wrestling move-the rear naked choke hold--- to be able to subdue the suspect.

In a news conference, Bryan was quoted as saying about the suspect: "He was very, very tired and it literally took zero effort to take him down. He put up very little resistance."

Interestingly, Bryan said he was a bit ashamed that he took matters into his own hands.

A Law Firm Announces That It Has Filed A Class Action Lawsuit Filed Against WWE Over TV Deal

The following press release has been issued over a class action lawsuit against WWE. The claim is that WWE gave misleading and false statements about their ability to double the value of their US TV license agreement.

The Law Office of Robbins Arroyo LLP Announces that It Has Filed a Class Action Lawsuit Against World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.

SAN DIEGO & WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., July 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Shareholder rights law firm Robbins Arroyo LLP announces that it has filed a federal securities class action lawsuit on July 25, 2014, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut (the "Court"), on behalf of all persons who purchased or otherwise acquired World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. ("WWE" or the "Company") securities between October 31, 2013 and May 16, 2014, inclusive (the "Class Period"), against the Company and certain of its officers and directors for, among other things, violations of section 10(b) of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Act of 1934 (the "Exchange Act") and U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Rule 10b-5 promulgated thereunder. The complaint seeks relief on behalf of the named plaintiffs and all other similarly situated shareholders of WWE during the Class Period. The named plaintiffs are represented by Robbins Arroyo LLP.

WWE Is Accused of Making False and Misleading Statements Concerning the Company's Ability to Double the Value of Its U.S. Television License Agreement

The complaint arises out of false and misleading statements regarding the ability of the Company to transform its earning profile through, among other things, the negotiation of a lucrative long-term television deal. The complaint alleges that, during the Class Period, certain of WWE's officers issued materially false and misleading statements regarding the Company's ability to command a premium fee in upcoming negotiations to renew its television license agreement. Specifically, defendants caused WWE to issue false and misleading statements in public filings, press releases, and conference calls where they publicized their ability to renew their television license agreement at double the value in upcoming negotiations. These statements downplayed the fact that advertisers pay less to reach WWE viewers than traditional sports or other shows on the USA Network and the negative impact on the television license negotiations resulting from the Company's launch of its WWE Network.
